My mother told me that long ago in her young days the tailor would come round once a year and make whatever clothes, suits or trousers that would have to be made just as the tinker does at the present time. He would stay for a week at almost every house. He made suits for the men over twenty one. The women all wore shawls which were handed down from mother to daughter like family heirlooms. At night the neighbours would gather into the house in which the tailor was to hear him tell of his adventure since he was in that part before. There would be dancing and singing going on.
