    It is said that the robin got its red breast when Our Lord was dying on the Cross the robin came up to Him and tried to pull the nails out of His hands and feet and that some of the blood fell on his breast and colaired it red.
    The cuckoo is followed by little birds because she lays eggs in their nests. The cuckoo has as its attendant a little bird called the "Reevogue" (Riabhóg)
