Long ago there lived a widow woman who had three children and one of them died when it was young.

Long ago there lived a widow woman who had three children and one of them died when it was young. The mother used to be always crying after this child for a long time. One night she was going to a friend's house and she had to cross fields where there was a fort. When she came near the fort she met a man at a gap. He asked her where she was going and she told him she was going to a friend's house. He asked her whom she had living with her and she told she had three children but one of them died some years ago. He said "Would you like to see that child now?" She said she would so he told her to stand there for a few minutes. Then a crowd of young girls all dress in white passed beside where she was standing. She did not know any of them as they passed along until the very last one passed. She knew this one was her daughter and she put out her hands to catch her but she vanished out of sight.
