In my district young and old make merry at feasts and perform customs, some of these customs have been handed down from generation to generation since the Irish were heathens.
On St. Stephen's Day the boys of my street rise early and dress in skirts and other funny clothes. They get a bush and tie all sorts of ribbons on it, and go round from house to house playing the wren-song or harmonies and other musical instruments. Some of the boys sing the song to he music of the instruments, looking for money is usually the cause for this demonstration.
When they have the money collected they divided it evenly among them-selves and buy lemonade and buns and have a regular feast.
