    A Cure For Mumps
I heard my father, John Doherty, Letterfine, Keshcarrigan say that he had the cure of the mumps. He said that it is commonly believed in our locality that any persons whose father and mother are of the same name before marriage have that cure. He also told me that his father and mother were of the same name before they were married.
He said that this cure is performed by swinging the person who has the mumps over a drain each time "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost." The drain must be running from three townlands, and the person must have his head in an asses bridle. He said that his is believed to cure the disease. He said he has that cure.
