  1. Querns.
    We ground our own corn with querns. There is a quern still in Curryolish or Portaneoght Carrick on Shannon, at John Hunt's.
    There is a Mass Bush near, and there is a cross on the quern. Some say the quern was used to grind the wheat to make the altar bread.
    I don't know how true that is.
    Clay pipes were made at Knockcrocken Co Roscommon by Carleys - the name Carley was on each pipe. They made the pipes in a clay mould. An iron was used to put the hole in the shank.
