  1. There is the ruins of an old church at Curraghs. The church was built in the sixth century by a man the name of O'Rourke who had been converted to the True Faith by Saint Patrick. The church was pulled down and rebuilt in the twelfth century by a community of monks called the Benedictines. The church flourished until the fifteenth century and it was destroyed by a man named Sir Frederick Hamilton who was one of Cromwells soldiers. At that time the people of Tarmon used to go to the Church at Curraghs and it is said that they used to it even after the time of Sir Frederick Hamilton. In 1831 a priest named Father
