  1. Poem (continued)

One evening last November right well I do remember...

    (continued from previous page)
And as I was a stranger sure i stood behind the door,
Till a maiden tall and pretty on me she did take pity.
She asked me if I'd dance with her tonight in Brackloon more.
We danced a reel together our hearts light as a feather.
We were cheered and clapped right heartily so we danced a few times more
And when the dance was over sure I thanked this pretty maiden
And said I hope we'll meet again some night in Brackloon more.
But cruel death had brought her just in a few weeks after.
They laid her in a cold grave who once was sweet and fair.
Our hearts with grief were laden at the death of this sweet maiden.
But consumption has no pity on blue eyes or golden hair.
