“In years long past, homemade articles were greatly used especially baskets.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)were strong, and made the basket firm. They were placed along the sides, and middle, forming the body of the basket. They were often tied to keep them in their correct places. Each sally rod was woven in and out though the ribs in the very same manner as the girls do their darning. Others were in and out through the bough and the ends of the sallies which were visible.
When the baskets were used for rough work, the rods were not peeled at all, but worked in the very same manner. They were of various sizes, those for the donkeys back being the biggest.
