- Holy Well of Curra, Parish of Ballinakill stands about two hundred yards from the old graveyard of Curra on the road between Woodford and loughrea.
Up to a few years ago, an old ash tree hung down over the well. Now it is surrounded by whitethorn bushes no other fence.Supposed to have been dedicated to Saint Colman MacDuagh at the beginning of the 7th century. The well was visited up to sixty years ago, by those who wanted cure of ailments, sore eyes etc
The person came before sunrise , said the usual prayers, applied the water, did the rounds and was cured. One woman had a large lump growing over her eye. She performed the works before sunrise, she washed the lump with the water and the lump fell into the well and disappeared.- Bailitheoir
