Strange Animals.
There are stories told about Strange animals being met or seen at night by the people of this locality.
Pat Byrne of Balcunnin was driving a cart home from Dublin one dark night and when he came near Gaffneys of the Yellow Hill, an animal jumped out of the ditch.
this animal appeared to be a big black dog with horns, and it walked beside him for some distance until they reached a small stream of running water which flows across the road where it disappeared as it is said evil spirits do not cross running water.
About 3 years ago a Ghost or spirit made its appearance in Lyons of Oberstown near Ballough. The Ghost was seen by many people on the premises, and was heard constantly pumping water.
