Bird-lore.
The usual wild birds are common around here. Many of them emigrate, such as the swallow, the cuckoo and the corncrake. The thrush builds in a thorn bush. The nest is round and is made of pieces of hay and mud inside. She lays four eggs and sits on them for about a week. When the thrush haunts around the back door expect rain. If you rob a nest you will have no luck. The robin got her red breast when drop of blood fell from our Lords wounds at the Crucifiscion. When you see the swallows flying low there will be rain. Sometimes when a storm is coming the gulls can be heard crying as they fly inland. It is a sign of very hard weather when a robin comes to your door looking food. The cuckoo lays her eggs in another birds nest and the owner of the nest has to hatch her eggs.
