- The old people fasted and prayed. Many a "turas" was made, and many a rosary said.
There was a turas made every fifteenth of August to the "Gap of Memor" - near the Glebe church in Desertegney.
There are about seven cairns convenient to the holy well there. Those making this turas did it barefooted. They started at the top of the hill, and went four times round the first cairn, saying at the same time - five Our Fathers, and five Hail Marys, and five Glorias.
There are three cairns round which are said "seven Our Fathers, Hail Marys and Glorias - and one round which are said Five Our Fathers.
It is said that a stone is lifted and thrown into the cairn according as the prayers at this cairn are finished. This turas was started on the fifteenth of August each year.- Bailitheoir
