- A man named Pat went to Scotland to look for work. A sheep owner was wanting a shepherd, and so engaged Pat. He was to look after the sheep all day and not let any harm come to them, and at night he was to close them in a pen or pound safe from harm. At the end of the day Pat succeeded in bringing the sheep home all right. The owner asked him if he had any trouble with them. "No" said Pat, "I had none unless with those two over there. "What two?" said the sheepowner. "Those two wee ones over there", said Pat.
"Oh, those are two hares you brought in with you."
