    Spring, - in the garage, hayshed and other outhouses. The Wrens build their nests in blackthorn bushes. The Robins build their nests in fences and among the rocks on the sides of the railway. The Crows have their nests bunched together on chestnut trees close to the school and some build in the old school, which is opposite this school on the other side of the road. The Larks and Corncrakes build their nests in the meadow fields.
    In this district the old people say that if the Swallows fly low we are in for a spell of bad weather but if they fly high they say it is a good sign. If the seagulls are seen flying inland, they say that bad weather is imminent and if Swans are seen flying away from the sea they say we are going to have rain.

    The following are two stories dealing with birds:-
