- Valentine Greatrakes and his neighbour John Roche forfeited their estates for taking part in the rebellion of 1641 and their land was given to John Nettles a farmer from Herefordshire.
During his lifetime immense quantities of cider was made by him.
Up to 50 years ago there were 30 commercial makers of cider from Lismore to the river Bride.
Today there is only one living of these men - but not a stone remains of his little factory.
