  1. This terrible disease usually called the fits or the falling sickness is not uncommon. It comes on a person without any seeming cause sometimes. Again it seems to come from an accident in which the head receives an injury. Then again it comes from our indulgence in intoxicating liquor.
From whatever cause it arises it is recurrent. The fits occur at irregular intervals. When the attack comes the person falls down and becomes unconscious. At first he gives out a most unearthly shout. The whole becomes convulsed and is a very horrible, frightening sight. After some time the fit passes away.
