  1. MAYO OF THE SAXONS
    St Coleman who is patron of I. Boffin was an Irishman. In the 7th century in yorkshire the Bishop of York and he disagreed. Coleman left york and came with some Irish and Saxon monks came to I. Boffin founded a monastry.
    Hard times - no food except fish, land poor not able to support them.
    The Irish monks got tired of it and came to the mainland to escape the hardships. The Saxons worked and when the food was produced the Irish returned and helped to eat it.
    Quarrels arose. Coleman in order to make peace brought the Saxons to mainland and built a monastry.
    It grew prosperous and famous. It attracted students from the continent. Hence -
