many a hot debate
Since laws have been enacted the nuisance to abate.
Some says its merely tommy rot
this chasing flies by gosh
And paying folk three
pounds a week
For splashing on eye wash.

The first of March the hunt
will start to Slaughter all the flies
So farmers get your wash in time
and rub it in their eyes
A few pence worth of wash will
bring a thousand flies to doom
And thus ere' long no gad
you will see from
Carrick-on-Shannon to Kiltoom.
