  1. In olden times people coloured the wool and wollen garments with the top of heather and stuff that grows on big rocks which is called "schraith-chloch".
    The heather and "schraith-chloch would be cut, and would be put into a pot of boiling water and left there, on the fire for one hour, and then the wollen garment would be put into the pot for two hours; and it would be then taken out and washed in cold water and put out
