- In the middle of Lurgoe bog there is a piece of land covering twenty acres, called "The Island."A path leads through the bog to it now, but it is said there was a time when it could only be got at by an under ground passage. The island is used as grazing land for cattle. The grazing rights belong in common to families living in a village near it. Each family can graze a certain number of cows on it.There is a fort on one side of the island the remains of a church on the other side.Beside a white thorn bush a large flag is laid on the ground, and this is supposed to mark the grave of the Gobán Saor, who often worked in Tipperary during his life time. The stones to build the church are said to have been carried(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
