- Long ago the people used to eat three meals a day. They had all the farmyard work done before eating a breakfast. The breakfast consisted of oat-cake and milk, and sometimes they had porridge. They took the dinner at noon. For dinner they had potatoes and butter-milk. On Sunday the people, sometimes used to have bacon for dinner. The supper was eaten before dark. This consisted of porridge and milk. Potatoes were always eaten by the poor. Some of them had no tables only big stools.(continues on next page)
