  1. Phil Halfpennys Jennet
    By Pat Traynor
    verse I
You carmen of this Nation from Dublin to Tyrone
I call on your attention to listen to my moan
I got a touch of Famine in the year of eight five
And that take I will remember as long as I am alive
    Verse II
I was a useful servant till my age got thirty one
When Phil arose one morning my harness to put on
    ( He acted mean)
He found me lame he acted mean and with me he rise a sour
Saying for the next fair you must prepare for you're not fit to plough
    Verse III
You know right well my courage fell at hearing this sad news
And he sent me to the Blacksmith to regulate my hooves
To that old knave I was a slave until he continued
And he sold me to Montgomery to drive me in the van
    Verse IV
He was an old reviver and the Bible he did read
He told me the morning I'd have to change my creed
I quickly made an answer saying your conscience must be cold
Do you think an asses bastard is going to loose his soul
