  1. There is only one old man in Lisagoan who knows anything about the famine. The district was very thickly populated and after the famine any one who was able emigrated to other countries. There are many ruins where people emigrated from. The blight came and the people did not know what it was. The stalks withered away and the potatoes were so small that they could go through a coarse riddle. It is also said that a man digging potatoes all the day could carry them home in a bucket. There was not much seed potatoes in the next year.
