Bright scenes of my first rambles,
Where warbling birds their joy proclaims
Amid green leaves and brambles. - As I roved out one morning fair, down by the Boyne I strayed
The birds with music filled the air and flora the fields arrayed;
As I approached the waters and down my bait I threw
A charming maid both tall and straight,
appeared full in my view. 'Tis on a primrose bank I sat beneath a spreading tree
This maiden came a milking but did not perceive me
'Tis through a shade I viewed this maid, my heart she did confound
My line and hook went with the brook
