  1. As I roved out one morning fair, down by the Boyne I strayed
    The birds with music filled the air and flora the fields arrayed;
    As I approached the waters and down my bait I threw
    A charming maid both tall and straight,
    appeared full in my view.
    'Tis on a primrose bank I sat beneath a spreading tree
    This maiden came a milking but did not perceive me
    'Tis through a shade I viewed this maid, my heart she did confound
    My line and hook went with the brook
    And never yet was found.
