that come from near and far
Till I sing for you a verse or two
    in praise of "Motor Car"
Motor Car was six years old; she
    never feared a foe
And she far surpassed the nobles
    at the grand Oldcastle Show
They came from Trim and Navan
    from Moate and Mullingar
To bring the cup from Hughie
and his mare called "Motor Car"
    When Motor saw the strangers
to her jockey then she said
"Hold fast on to your saddle
    be not the least dismayed
Hold fast on to your saddle
And you and I will sup a glass
of Irish whiskey for were sure to win the cup"
    The jockeys all were mounted
for the course they aid prepare
Motor Care passed sound the rest far swifter than a hare
And as she crossed the hurdle leap
    she jumped so very high
