  1. In Maughera there is a holy well. It is known as Saint Kiernans Well. People go to visit it every year the date is every first Sunday in August. The people usually bring bottles with them for Holy water. They stop there for a night. It is lighted up with electric lights during the night and when it becomes daylight the people go home. Those who are suffering from any disease, if they are there before sunrise, will be cured.

    There is a holy well in Lavey it is called after Saint Dympna. It is only the size of a horse's hoof, because one day when Saint Dympna was riding on her horse from her Fathers house to escape from her
