    potatoes for him, and most farmers get the furrows cut with a plough and two horses, to leave the mould easier thrown up on the ridge.
    Then he is ready to set his potatoes, and when he has them set he shovels them. Before the farmer sets his potatoes he spread the artificial manure on the ridge, and then he drops the potatoes or split. He leaves about ten inches between each split, which is a potato which is cut in two or three parts, and there is an eye in each part.
    Often farmers gather together and for what is called a "mehall" (mevieal) and they go to one farmer for one day, and to the other farmer the next day, until all the potatoes for all the people who joined together are set.
    The potatoes are sown in drills, if the ground is dry, but if the ground is wet they are set in ridges.
    Wooden ploughs were used long ago, but there is no remains of these now. Mr.Lord of (Grad) Corbeagh had a wooden plough. The spades are bought in the local hardware shop.
