  1. Although fairies have practically vanished out of Ireland their forts still remain to remind us of the days of old. Forts have other names such as, lios, rath, cathair or ring. Forts are usually round in shape and are built on summits or hillocks.
    There are not many forts in our district. The one I know best is O'Hagan's fort. It is situated in the townland of Cormore. It is nothing but a mound of earth situated on a hillock. There is said to be a secret passage leading from the fort to a meadow some miles further. This is hardly true as nobody has ever explored the fort. It is about a hundred feet in circumference and the fairies who lived in it were called
