  1. As I lie down to sleep
I give my soul to God to keep
If I die before I wake
I give my soul to God to take
There are four corners on my bed
There are four angels round me spread
    Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
God bless the bed that I lie on.
The above prayer is recited by many of the people of the district on lying down to rest.
The Lord with the branch and the Lady with the flower
May they be with me at my dying hour
In honour of the five bleeding wounds received on the tree
Oh Merciful Jesus have mercy on me.
The above prayer was taught by people of the district to their children about 30 years ago.
