    coming near the house the dog bit her and cut her leg. The man followed her into the house, and when he went in he saw an old woman sitting at the fire, and her foot all bleeding. She said that she fell on the street, and cut her foot. That was the way he found out who was bringing the butter.
    The people also believed that if a red haired woman came into the house when churning was in progress, that she would being the butter. One evening there was a girl milking when an old red haired woman came along. She began to talk about the cows, and about all the milk they had. She never once said, "God Bless them" while she was talking about them. In a few days after the girl was going to churn. When she was a few hours churning, she looked at it, and there was no butter at all. She went to the priest and told him about it. He said that it was the red haired woman who brought the butter. He also told her that if ever any person would come to her again when she would be milking, and begin to talk about the
