  1. Tinkers are frequent visitors in country houses. They sell bootlaces, hair clips and brooches. Sometimes they ask for lodging for the night. When they are refused they camp on the side of the road. They have their own food. They like to get money. They travel in a van drawn by a horse. The tinkers do not tell stories now as they used to do long ago. The family that comes most often to this district is the Brien family.
