  1. Martens are scarce in this locality. They ramble at night and in spring they kill young lambs. They have a very weird cry.
    Hedgehogs roll themselves up in the moss in winter and sleep in a hole in the root of an old tree. They frequent quiet places and are rare, harmless animals.
    Weasels are brave, wary animals. They chase rabbits and drink their blood. they are very fond of fowl. They have long thin bodies. When they are chasing rabbits they chase one rabbit all along so to tire him.
