  1. In olden times the generation was far stronger than at present. There is an old man living near my home who used to carry a 2 cwt bag of phosphate under each arm.
    There is another man not far from my home who carried a plough on his back for a quarter of a mile.
    I often hear my father saying that an old man in Shillelagh carried a plough on one shoulder and the stone roller on the other for about half a mile.
