  1. Long ago the old people used to buy and sell after Mass.
    They do not do so now.
    When they have a Mission there is nearly always people buying and selling things such as pictures or Prayer Books.
    In olden times there were not many shops around here and the people had to go to the nearest town for their groceries.
    Sometimes people would not have money to pay for such goods so they would get them on "tick" and keep an account of it till the next time and then pay it. They do that still.
    Pedlars used to come around here selling clothes of every kind but they do not come now.
    The markets were held at crossroads. Now there is a market - squar for them in towns.
    My Grandfather told me on the 14th of May 1938.
