    It was the custom in olden times in Trooperstown that the people got married in their own houses.
    They rode on horseback to the wedding.
    It was mostly match making. The fathers and mothers would make matches for their sons and daughters. The women wore bonnets and long dresses with hoops and improvers.
    And the men wore beaver hats and cut away coats. The girls got money or stock. People like to get married on a Wednesday they say it is a lucky day and Saturday is an unlucky day. This is the old saying "Monday for health, Tuesday for wealth, Wednesday the best day of all,
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crosses,
    Saturday no day at all.
