  1. There are various people travelling about every district. Some are known as tinkers. They go about in bands made up of two or three families. They live in vans and more of them in tents. They go to the houses for milk, food etc. There are other "travelling" folk who go about selling different wares. Others look for alms and lodging for the night. People let them stay in out houses or lofts. Some are story tellers and are very intelligent. A good many of them are able to speak Irish.
