  1. The people in this locality get married in Shrove. The custom is to get married on a Wednesday as they say it is a lucky day. Before the wedding the match is made and money given as a fortune. After the wedding a great feast is given in the bride's house. That night strawboys or Cailleachs come to the house They dress with funny clothes so that no one would know them. When they go into the house they get tea and sometimes whiskey. Then there is a dance given.
