    is situated in the barony of Garrycastle. It was founded about the year 1269 and it was the chief castle of the Maw Coughlan clan. The Maw ruled a territory known as Delvin-Eathra. It consisted of about 200,000 acres of land. The young chief always lived in Garrycastle. There is an old distillery at the back of Moores house where they used to make whiskey. A good number of men were employed here in olden times.
