  1. In the Ferbane district there are a large number of old churchyards. Within a quarter of a mile of Ferbane there is an old churchyard called Gallen. This graveyard is one of the most ancient in history. It is there that St. Connoc built his great monastery in 492.
    The end of this old church still remains standing with the shape of an old window on it.
    Part of the churchyard is shut in with a wall and is still in use.
    During the excavations some very precious ornaments were found.
    There is no place in Ireland to - day more noted for ancient memories than Ferbane. In the matter of old churchyards and so on, the district is very rich. There is an old
