  1. My home is in the townland of Ballyboggan Lr, in the parish of Ardcavan and in the barony of Shelmalier East.
    I live about a quarter of a mile outside the village of Castlebridge.
    There are about thirty or thirty three families in this townland, and an average of about five in each house. Altogether I would say about one hundred and fifty people or so. The houses are mostly thatched farm-houses of the old fashioned kind.
    There are some new labourers cottages built lately with slated roofs.
    There are many ruins of houses in this district, and most of them were occupied by families who have died out of them.
