    The following facts and details were given me, some by canon Justice and some by Mrs John Boyers...

    The following facts and details were given me, some by canon Justice and some by Mrs John Boyers both at present residing in Longford and both in their 78th year.
    Where Mrs Coote lives in Leamore Park at present a prison Governor once resided. The house is called Leamore and the grounds Leamore Park.On the left hand side of the entrance to the garden in front of the house there is a beech tree of good age. It is sometimes called the Gallows tree even to this day. It was from that tree that victims were suspended, even less than 100 years ago for crime political or other. On the south side of the house there are the remains of a graveyard. There, prisoners were interred after having been removed from the Gallows tree a stones throw away. Just outside Governors house in the yard there stood a treadmill and Mrs Boyers
