    Local Poets (continued)
A girding tribute was laid on
Which if not paid upon the man
Your sentance was from thense begone
You shall not dwell upon the land
    The imposition of wrach-rents
Made orphans cry for want of bread
And filled the ships with emigrants
And filled the cemetries with dead
    For many a dreary year
This siege went on without a truce
And many a flood of blood and tears
Throughout this "Isle" it did produce
At last we've found the man
Who made the tyrants tremble, rank and file
    And clipped the crowbar brigade
And fired you in your native soil
Peace to the shades of those who fell
Who bore the test of bar and cell
    And cruelty for justice sake
