  1. The old Craft carried on in former times in Derrygowna were spinning. First the wool was shorn off the sheeps back then it was oiled to make it loose. Then it was carded with two cards with a sheet of iron teeth in them until it was fine and soft. Then it was made into little rolls for spinning.
    Then it was spun upon the wheel into a fine thread. This thread was doubled and twisted on the wheel again and made into strong thread for knitting socks and stockings. Then when they were knitted they were washed and they were snow white.
