Shirts are not now made in homes
Formerly shirts were made from flax grown & spun & weaved. The rough linen was made into sheets "banóg" sheets & rough towels (rubbers) for the hands. They were most unpleasant but very durable. Some of them are still to be had.
Socks are seldom knit & the wool is not spun. Remains of old wheels are still to be seen - both linen & woollen wheels. - Usually 3 meals were taken - breakfast, dinner & supper
People did two or three hours work before breakfast
In some places potatoes were eaten "21 times a week" that is at every meal
"Stirabout" oaten or Indian was eaten at least twice every day.
A pot was placed in the middle of the floor - on this was a "scib" (round potato basket made of rods). The potatoes were "strained" into this scip. The water(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
