  1. St Munna is the patron St. of this parish Taghmon (Teac-Munna). His church is still in existence and is being preserved by Antiquarian Society. This Church was spared by Cromwell because it gave him shelter on a very stormy night - It is known where he is buried. A holy well is dedicated to his honour.
    No people in the district are called after the Saint.

  2. Local fairs are now held in the large towns. Buyers occassionally transact business on the farm or in the farmer's yard. Toll was paid but not now.

    A "Luck Penny" is given at all transactions connected with buying or selling on the farm.
    When a bargain is being completed hands are struck " I wont break your word" and "split the difference" is repeatedly heard.
    Marks are made by mud - by "raddle"
    a scissors cut in hair or eat cut.
    The halter is usually given away with animal.
    Pig fairs are held on the day previous to the cattle sheep horse fair.
