    Hurray! that shout it rooleth up with cadence wild and stern;
    "Tis the triumph roar of the gallow-glass and the sharp yell of the kern;
    The foeman flies before their steed - not far, not for he flies;
    In the goge's mouth, in the valley's womb, by the mountain foot he dies.
    Where'er he speeds, death follows himlike a shadow in his tracks -
    He meets the gleam of the fearful pike and the sharp and gory axe!
    Their leader of the boating words, young Trimblestone was ta'en
    And his champions all save one weak man in that bloody gorge were slain;
    He sped him on, unchased by kern, unsmote by Gallowglass
    That he might tell how his comrades fell that morn in Tyrrellspass.
