    ( Bobsgrove is a townland about a mile to the south of Mountnugent )
    One June morning before cock-crow the echoing hoofs of Cromwellis chargers roused the peasantry from their slumbers. The sun rose sickly o'er Lake Sheelin and against the pale glow of the sky the deadly glimmer of foemans steel presented a grim challenge of war.
