  1. Long ago when people got married many things were done. The bride went to the bridegrooms house and they would sit one each side of the fire. They got two straws and the bridegroom stuck the straw in the fire and lit it. He pointed it towards the bride until it was burned out. The bride did the same then.
    When they were coming home after being married and and within a mile of the house the bridegroom and all that were with him except the bride ran race on horse back as far as the bridegroom's house because
