    while others go in carts. Long ago the country people used to gather round them to hear the latest news. The names of the travelling folk that come to our district are Rooney's, Bells, Power's, Lissie Molloy, and John Jones, the houses they ask for horse hair and aluminium. They give rosary beads and other things in exchange for them. They buy tin and they make saucepans and cans and they sell them.
    One day a beggar woman got a pail of milk from a farmer. She said to her husband "I will sell this milk and buy a hen and the hen will lay eggs and hatch them and I will have chickens. Then when they get big they will lay eggs and hatch them and so on. Then
